Increase in Whitehall Salaries Off-Payroll to Avoid Tax

Reports  of an increase in the number of Whitehall high earners paid their salaries  off-payroll, i.e. through a set-up service company to avoid tax.

As a tax  barrister I was interested to note that despite the Treasury asking government departments for  reassurance that the right tax was paid many staff have not complied.

(VAT doesn’t come into this…..)
