UK Schemes Add 10% Plus VAT to Energy Bills

The UK energy minister was forced this week to admit government schemes added “just under” 10% to energy bills on top of VAT. The revelation came in a television debate about the latest above-inflation price rise by an energy company. The minister had first said a government scheme added only 4 or 5%, but had to concede the higher figure when corrected by an energy company representative. Tut!
