VAT Reduction to Boost NI Tourism

Criticism from Northern Ireland that, with VAT on tourism in the South at just 9%, the UK Treasury has not worked out the cost to the North of not reducing its VAT below 20%. Arguments both way of course. The UK has a single rate for each country in it. But then again tax is being increasingly devolved and to have two rates in a single market makes nonsense of the government’s EU arguments.
