No Cut in VAT for Tourism and Catering

The government has ruled out a cut in VAT for the tourism and catering sectors. David Gauke, a Treasury minister, has said a cut in VAT to 5% for catering would cost £9 to £10 billion, and £2 billion for hotels. he went on that with additional borrowing ruled out the economic boost from a rate cut was not enough to make-up the tax shortfall.
