Singapore Taxpayers File Tax Returns Earlier

Tax fans should be applauding the good citizens of Singapore. I hear that the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore, IRAS, is thrilled that 75% of taxpayers, that is, 4% more than last year, filed their tax returns by 1st April.

The IRAS is itself to be commended for its SMS Return My Call service whereby taxpayers can request a call back from IRAS and need not hang on the phone for hours. 23,000 taxpayers used this service (up 77% from the same period the previous year): a lot of working hours saved.
