Tax and Chum-ocracy vs. Bigot-ocracy

The UK political party conference season is gearing up with one of the main parties declaring plans for a tax-free personal allowance of £12,500 and a top rate of 40%. Ideally tax should be fair and neutral. In my view in recent years the UK political tax debate has been poisoned into Chum-ocracy vs. Bigot-ocracy. In Chum-ocracy ordinary people get lectured but tax breaks just go to rich chums. In Bigot-ocracy ordinary people get lectured but tax breaks just go to favoured groups. Chum-ocracy and Bigot-ocracy are just sides of the same nasty sectarian coin. Personally I prefer a Democracy with everyone being given help and a fair chance.
