Tax and Scottish Separation from UK

Conflicting reports from London and Edinburgh on the tax side of Scottish separation from the UK seem to be evenly balanced, with each side blaming the other. As a tax barrister and student of history both it’s interesting how paying out money in tax has been crucial in so many historical developments. From Ship Money and the English Civil War, taxation in independence for America and now to who gets taxed to pay the unified national debt if/when the UK separates.
